• File echos and sbbsecho

    From Dumas Walker@VERT/CAPCITY2 to ALL on Sat Aug 4 19:38:00 2018
    Good evening,
    How do you set up file echos for down links with SBBS or sbbsecho?

    I have never set one up for an ftn feed before with another tosser, so I am
    not certain what I need to set up to get it working.

    Thanks!

    tickit.js is the simplest way. There are instructions in exec/tickit.js and on the wiki..

    http://wiki.synchro.net/module:tickit

    It simple to setup.. add the TICKIT event and add the areas you want to import to ctrl/tickit.ini. My tickit.ini has a bunch of areas that like like this..

    [DAILYLIST]
    Dir=FIDO-DAILYLIS

    That will import files you receive in the DAILYLIST area. If you also want to send that file to any of your links add a links line like so..

    Links=1:234/567,1:233/444

    There is also a nodelist handler you can use on areas that have nodelists to keep your nodelist upto date, for binkit or a nodelist browser like ftnnv.

    I second that. Recently setup TickIT, and it works well.

    Thanks, Al. One problem I am having with it is that it gives me errors on
    any tic that contains a tic password. It says that the password is present
    but that the TicFilePwd (in sbbsecho.ini) is blank. However, it is not blank... it matches, case and all. :)

    Luckily, for the ones I am passing to downlinks, they do not have passwords
    so I am not having the issue. Only with the ones I get from my FIDO hub
    that I want to have processed by adding them to a file area.

    Ahh.. I had to remove the domain from my sbbsecho.ini in order for tickit to read the passwords correctly. My node lines looked like..

    node:1:234/567@fidonet

    So I changed it to this..

    node:1:234/567

    And now it works OK. A bug of some sort that we'll need to catch Deuce and let him know.

    There is another bug I notice.. sometimes tickit will import a file just fine, and there will be another file in the database that doesn't exist. Usually with a 1 letter filename, or maybe a few letters. The last one was a file named "source". Maybe it is getting that from the description I'm not to sure. I've just been deleting those entries with files that don't exist.
