*Stares in awe at an actual dial-up BBS* Most impressive, especialy in an age when most computers don't even have modems anymore and most homes don't even have a POTS line in them. :)
It is a bit of a crazy experiment. My hypothesis is/was that there may be others out there who think computing might be a richer experience if it's enjoyed at a slower pace and outside of the internet...reading (and supporting)
physical magazines, diskmags, a hefty manual for your favourite programming language. Making things. RAther than...Facebook, Youtube, Facebook, Youtube.
BUT..I do see there's a barrier to entry for a lot of people - if they've dropped their POTS lines and just have cell numbers. In the UK at least, most people do still have landlines however. Whether they can use a modem and have somewhere to attach it to the computer is another matter!
