    David,

Was down for backup. Up and running now.

I've been down due to thunderstorms (it has been a very stormy spring
in Arkansas), and to do a much needed system backup last week. By the
end of this week, the stormy weather pattern should end...but the
arrival of high heat index values will mean possible brownouts from
everyone turning on their air conditioners.

If I could come into some good money this year, I'm seriously
considering a Generac Generator. I know several ham radio operators who
have them, and I've heard nothing but good reports on them.

I really do not understand why you have so much trouble with storms. All my systems run all the time through storms, high heat ect. with no problems at all. Thats why your house is grounded. I don't even disconnect any of my antenna systems ever. Grounding is your friend.

Well, I'm a 2 time lightning strike survivor for one thing.

Second, that story I told about a ham who spared no expense to ground
and protect his stuff, but it was for nothing. The direct hit vaporized
his tower, antenna, mast, and coaxial cable...melted his monitor, and
fused together the circuit boards inside the UPS unit and computer
    tower.

I'd rather be safe than sorry. If you want to tempt fate with
    lightning, be my guest.

If I could, I wouldn't have to worry about electric bills or a
generator. Plus, the power company would PAY ME!!

For that matter, if we could convert the flatulence generated by our digestive tracts to make our vehicles run, they couldn't make enough
baked beans for everyone...as they'd sell out, and folks would tell OPEC
what they could do with the high gas prices!! :P

It depends on what part of central Arkansas you're in. I've seen them
as cheap as $2.19 up to $2.39 a gallon for regular. I normally get gas
at Kroger, as with their fuel VIP program, for every $100 I get in
groceries, I get 20 cents a gallon off in gasoline purchases.
