Winders keeps at me every time I reboot to set up a "home group" to
allow the confusers to talk to each other. I'm afraid they'll conspire behind my back. So I use Team Viewer or a thumb drive to move stuff.

That's actually more secure than you think and will allow you to move files intra-LAN easily. TeamViewer makes your connection go to the
cloud and back so a home group would be much faster. I use NFS to
share files between Windows, FreeBSD, Linux, and OS/2 but I am do have
a masochistic streak when it comes to computers.

As I mentioned some time back, I recently started having a problem
getting my computer (with the BBS, Bwave, etc) to talk to Gail's desktop
where the Mealmaster files reside. Thanks to a guy on tenwindows forum,
I tried setting up a new workgroup on each computer. When I got to
Gail's and did that, Avast popped up and said "Do you trust this
network". Of course I said yes, and hence forth the two computers can
talk to each other. As you can see, I took the opportunity to use MM to produce a new set of files to pick from to add to my messages.

Windows 11 is coming .... big whoop. I was perfectly happy with W2K or
XP .... but that wasn't going to make Micro$not any $$$$.

I held onto Win7 for as long as I could.

From everything I've read so far, W11 is just window dressing (pun intended) to make Windows look and act like OS X (Apple Macintosh).

Why would I want that? One of the first things I did was to make win10
    act like my win7 setup.

    Title: Denver Grainlette
    Categories: Vegan, Digest
    Yield: 2 servings

    1 1/2 c Grain & lentil mix*
    2/3 c Chopped fresh tomato
1/2 c Chopped green bell pepper
    1 Sliced green onion
    2/3 c Sliced fresh mushrooms
    1/4 c Water
    1 Clove fresh garlic, minced
    -or crushed.

Put the water in a skillet. Toss in everything above except the
grains. Cook down until the water's almost gone. (If you like the
peppers less cooked add them after a couple of minutes.) Toss in the
grain mix, stir, maybe add a grind or two of fresh pepper, serve.
Serves two or one really hungry person.

    * The grain mix: I steam 1/2 cup wild and brown basmati rice, 1/4 cup
barley, 1/4 cup lentils and about 1/4 cup millet together, then use
it in all sorts of recipes like this one.

To make it even more like a Denver omelette, you could add no-fat
cheese, but that makes such a mess of the skillet that I didn't
    bother!

I liked this. HAving leftovers for lunch just as soon as I get off
    line!

That is what the "homegroup" function is for. I did that for my parents,
both running on W10, to share files and printers. I'm glad it works well
    for you.

I held onto Win7 for as long as I could.

I'm setting a W7P VM for some amateur radio software I use that does not run well under WINE. W7P will do what I need just fine.

Why would I want that? One of the first things I did was to make win10 act like my win7 setup.

Microsoft is not a leader (when they're not stealing other companies' technology) anymore so they are just trying to make Windows appeal to the Apple fanboys with $$$ in their pocket.

I'm switching over to FreeBSD for myself and I will be giving up some functionality but it's worth it for the speed and reliability the change
    will give me.

On a side note, my refrigerator died last weekend. I called my landlord and they sent out a HVAC company to look at it. They told my landlord to get a new fridge. They ordered one but they won't get it until early next week.
My parents brought over a giant Igloo cooler that is on wheels that I won
when I worked for Leclerc Foods in a company BBQ/day off party raffle. I bought 40 pounds of ice and put my most sensitive food in it for now. I had to throw away $100 in food, especially meat, and I am going to try to get reimbursed by my landlord for that long wait for a fridge, especially in
    this heat.

The mistory to me is why did my existing workgroup work for so many
years and then quit until I set up a new workgroup. At best I can guess
that for some reason an Avast update decided to put my Wi-Fi network on
a non trusted status on her machine -- without letting me know how to
    fix that flaw.

    Hi Sean,

Just a few suggestions from a long time baker, not quite as long
diabetes diagnosed person. You might find the amount of stevia in the
small green packet a bit too much; it's equal to 2 tsp of sugar. For
bulk amounts of sugar, I use Stevia For Baking. It comes in a green
pouch, measures just like sugar. The down side is that that much stevia
can have a bitter taste to some people. Depending on how well your
diabetes is controlled, you might be able to do what I do--sub the SFB
for only half the sugar, use regular (I use raw sugar) for the other
half. Another option is to cut down on the amount of sugar you use; a
lot of recipies can stand to have the sugar cut by half. In this one,
I'd cut the sugar to half a teaspoon or go with maybe 1/8 teaspoon of
    stevia.
