Peanuts are just one of several closely related groundnuts which are
a group in the legume family.
I have a cousin who has lived in China, India, and Nigeria growing
up. (His parents were missionaries.) He says Nigeria has at least 3
different kinds of groundnuts besides peanuts. They are inter-
changeable in some dishes to the extent that navy, pinto, black and
kidney beans are with each other.
