So high temperature?
That's the temperature called for. It's not unusual. Some dishes of
that sort ask for 350ºF/175ºC. Others go with the higher setting.
Here's one I do which uses oven heat halfway between 350ºF/175ºC and 400ºF/205ºC.

Title: Dirty Dave's Hash Browns Casserole

Yield: 8 Servings
2 lb Frozen hash brown potatoes;
- shredded or diced
1 Onion; chopped
1 Bell pepper; chopped
1 Red bell pepper; chopped
2 c Thick cut bacon; in 1/4"
- square pieces
10 lg Eggs; beaten well
Salt & pepper
1 1/2 c Cheddar cheese; shredded
Cook the bacon to your desired crispness. Remove with
a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the rendered
pork fat in the skillet.
Add hash browns, onion, and bell peppers.
Cook until potatoes begin to brown.
Spray 9" x 13" baking dish with non-stick spray.
Spread potato mixture in pan.
Top with cooked bacon.
Pour beaten eggs over all and season to taste with
salt and pepper.
Gently stir to coat all ingredients with eggs.
Sprinkle with cheese.
Refrigerate overnight.
Bake uncovered @ 375ºF/190ºC for 35 minutes.
