I'm on Sean's Outpost BBS and his daily "Birthdays" blurb lists today
as being Porky Pig's birthday. I dunno where they got their info.
All my sources list his 1st appearance as March 2, 1935 in the Friz
Freleng directed "I Haven't Got a Hat".
But, I had already found the "Burton" for Porky, so .......
MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
Title: Porky Pig Pasta
Categories: Pasta, Pork, Cheese, Vegetables, Citrus
Yield: 1 serving
100 g Spaghetti
5 g Dried porcini mushrooms
100 g Boiling water
5 g Vegetable oil
42 g Speck (bacon); smoked
20 g Unsalted butter
3 g Garlic
10 g Bread crumbs
3 g Lemon juice
4 g Grated Parmesan cheese
Rinse porcini slices in cold water and drain.
Place in a small bowl and pour over boiling water.
Allow to soak for 20 minutes. Drain, reserving liquid.
Cook spaghetti in a large pot of salted water.
Heat oil over medium heat.
Saute smoked speck for a minute.
Add porcini mushrooms and cook until speck is beginning
to crisp.
Add 10 g of butter, garlic and breadcrumbs and continue
cooking until breadcrumbs are crisp.
Remove all ingredients and deglaze pan with reserved
porcini liquid.
Add lemon juice, remaining butter and cooked pasta.
Toss until butter has melted then toss through bread
crumbs and grated Parmesan.
