I finally finished teaching my daughter to drive and she got her license. Wow, what an experience that was. I think one of the best days of raising a kid is when she can buckle her on child seat. It's the last thing, prior to teaching her how to drive, that you need to do as a dad. Other than be there to guide her.

Thats cool. I have two daughters, but they are far, far from being able to drive. Did she learn solely from you, or did you also get an instructor?

I did it all. I was fun trying to find a place to get her actual drivers test since Oregon DMV was not doing in person driving tests. I went with a third party. I found the whole experience to be a massive test of patients.

I remember sitting in the passenger seat while my 16 going on 25 year old daughter was "driving". I was excited, proud, and scared all at the same time.

One of the happiest times is when you hear your son/daughter utter the words "Dad, I need you to ...".

I've always hated parallel parking with a passion. Yet, I think of the commercial where the elderly lady is working to pass her driving test.
She pulls up next to the space, does some "measurements", then hits the
gas, and speeds down the street.

Suddenly, she hits the brakes, does a 180, turns around, and heads back
to the parking space...doing a perfect swing in maneuver into the spot.

All the while, the driving instructor is white as a sheet, and as she
makes a perfect swing and stop into the space, the instructor checks the
box "PASSED" on the clipboard, and the old lady pumps her fist in the air,
and screams "YES!!" <G>.

There's nothing like the feeling a dad gets than sitting in the passenger seat while you teen daughter is learning to drive. Hoping that she was paying attention to what you told her NOT to do. :)
