I do not know what a DOOM reader is,
    but it reached me.

Further to that.. *what* this is would be the intent of the moderator/creator of the echo:

"Fidonet: If you like the game DOOM, or any similar games, this echo is for you. Topics include modem/network support (for multi-player games), playing techniques, technical information and reviews of new levels. Other 3D games are also on topic."

Unless DOOM is playable on a smartphone/tablet, I guess this group via Telegram is not too useful.

But the technology that is built to support the link-up between fido and telegram can serve to be a nice convenience to monitor activity at the very least.

There are Doom games available on Android.

But beyond that, you're limiting your view.

Just because a person is communicating via a smartphone/tablet
application, doesn't mean that they don't also use PC's or game systems.

Keep it up and I'm going to add FTN via game systems to the project

I think there are source ports for the ID 1 engine (aka DOOM) that run on Android. I could be wrong, though. In any case, smartphones feel like the wrong place to play a FPS.

DOOM 1, 2, and 3 all have versions on Android. I haven't played them though.

I have tried some FPS games though. Some work better than others of course.

Another PRBOOM+ Linux user here. Great port with native midi support.

Maybe that 'universal' executable has a stub that branches depending on the OS?

I just fired up my Windows DOOM engine - think I'm running ZDOOM, and
played Level 1 of the original DOOM, Hurt Me Plenty, no cheat codes.
It was a nice time, I realized that I've forgotten most of the secret
areas. I'll need to go back and play through again.

I've also forgotten how to strafe.

Years ago I was having trouble getting a doom engine going and then I discovered prboom-plus and I have never looked back.

It must be. I haven't had eyes on a windows machine in years so I'm not sure what makes them tick anymore.

I still have zdoom around here and I need it at times when prboom can't run a map for some reason.

I've also forgotten how to strafe.

I don't know if it's possible to strafe. It might be, there are so many options I may have walked passed it.

My doom setup is still very original DOS like. My doom guy can't look up and down (although I could set it up so I could) because that's not doom!

I've been playing new Doom levels, so its a game I never really left. I played through Doom a year or so ago, original levels, and I ALMOST felt like I started to forget what was in the levels.

But I'm pretty much just as familiar with the game, if not more so, than I was in 1994.
