• Trivia Door

From Daryl Stout@1:19/33 to All on Sat Aug 7 17:03:00 2021
I was trying to use the Trivia Door from Sunrise Doors software
to add a new trivia door. But, every time I try to run it, I get
errors, saying that I'm missing a variable in the configuration
file, but I've doublechecked that file several times. I have not
been able to find another trivia door...registerable or freeware.

If anyone can provide feedback on this, I'd appreciate it.

Come see what I have .... I think I have about 50 or so trivia doors installed and for download as well ...

Are you specifying your CFG file on the command line? The DoorFrame doors like the ones from Sunrise flash the big ERROR message if you don't.

Example, on mine it's: TRIVIA TRIVIA1.CFG, where 1 is the node number (I have 10 nodes, so I have 10 CFG files).

I have not been able to find another trivia door...

They're out there. You just have to search. I can think of two massive BBS FILES and BBS ARCHIVES sites (there's your search terms <g>), in which I've found quite a bit just from browsing them, and many have been converted to freeware.

    Happy hunting!

    Craig,

doors like the ones from Sunrise flash the big ERROR message if you
    don't.

Yes, and I went through the documentation twice, and redid the
configuration file, as per the docs, but it kept giving me an Error 62.

I found an older copy of the Arkansas Trivia door setup, and just added
the Railroad Trivia into the Death By Trivia category.

If a door is freeware, or registerable, I'm interested. Otherwise, I'd
just get it for downloads only...and I already have several trivia doors
    for download.

I assume you already saw #2 under Troubleshooting in TRIVIA.DOC then?

"If you encounter an Error 62 (Input Past End of File), BEFORE you see the
opening screen of the Door, your problem will more than likely be associated
with the CFG file. The error 62 means that you do not have enough entries in the CFG. Compare your CFG file with the CFG definition in the DOC file."

My CFG files contain 34 lines. Do yours?

If a door is freeware, or registerable, I'm interested. Otherwise, I'd just get it for downloads only...and I already have several trivia doors for download.

    Craig,

Yes, I saw that. I just did a fresh install, and copied stuff to other directories. I also created and imported a question file, but some of the options that the documentation refers to aren't in the program.

I like the option to create a file, then import it.

I will have to look on The Titanic BBS again...I looked for several
programs, but most all were shareware (and possibly abandonware).
