I don't actually use my Windows machine very much any more. I experiment a lot with tweaks and programs, to the point I've fried my computer's systems more than once. My wife tends to frown at that.

It's a pity, because I found a lot of things that I could get older machines to do and run, which conventions said couldn't.

I need to get back into that.

To answer above question, maybe ... I have not asked every person on earth.
_I_ do not use it for a looong time.

But I should take a closer look to DOSBox again when I have some time.

Many windows users do not use any command line.
Also I would not attribute the command line to DOS.
CP/M had a command line before DOS existed at all.
And UNIX had a command line before CP/M existed :)

Not true for a very long time.
Windows NT never had any DOS except emulation.
Same is true for everz Windows after Windows ME.

Some programs, like OpenXP, have a "Drop to DOS", and that

Ahh... ok. I realize we are talking about the original DOS
now. Save for Win95 and Win3.1 the later DOS shells are emulations.

I love text screen programs. My laptops have DOS-only partitions,
but actually i use more emulators like vDosPlus or directly from the

I love DOS as well. I just don't have a system to run it on. My PC at the house necessarily has to be Windows because of access my grandchildren need for school and the like when they visit.

I love the look of vDosPlus on my 16:9 monitor; the fonts look
proportionally correct and sharp. I'm doing more text editing using
my old DOS-era tools (Qedit and VDE) now with VDP.
