Have Sony HDR-AS15 that i paid good money for !

Sony provided software will not install on my "new" Win XP Pro.

How can I find it ?

    Drivers and PlayMemories needed.

They sell the hardware then abandon the users !
That is corporate greed for you.

Well, climb into your time machine and travel
back to the year 2013, where you will get value
    for money.

WinXP and Vista have gone out of support. As
a consequence, Sony Corporation supports Windows 7
    for PMHOME_5500DL.exe.

If you use Archive.org, you can find an archived playmemories
web page, which claims WinXP support for PMHOME version 3000.
But the supported OS list has changed with time, and in the
    year 2017, you're shit-outta-luck.

While archive.org archives "info" pages quite well, it's
less good about download links. The Sony site doesn't want
"robots" downloading copies of software, so clever tricks are
used so the download links cannot be archived.

I tried "crafting" some links, but my requests were denied.

Basically, the camera is an SDHC device (32GB max microSD),
which uses USB mass storage as an interface. You have the option
of popping the microSD into a USB card reader. Or, you should be
able to cable up the camera, and download stuff. I don't think
the device is a complete orphan. Since it's supposed to be
Mass Storage, the SHDC card should look like a disk drive.

In an emergency, you can take the HDMI output from the camcorder,
into an HDMI capture card. But you'd have to be a total geek
to do that today. The "peak time" for getting HDMI capture
cards to work, was a number of years ago.

The second sticking point, is video recording formats.
Will VLC play the movies it records ? I don't know,
    as I don't own one.

It doesn't appear that the product comes with a CD in
the box, and you're "sent to the web" to download software.
And as I say, in the year 2013, the camera was probably
a good deal. In 2017, less so.

It's really easy to fix this. All what you need,
is a relatively modern WinXP machine with 3GB of RAM.
You can install VirtualBox. Install a copy of Windows 7
in VirtualBox. Use USB passthru, to pass the camcorder
into the Guest OS environment. Install PMHOME_5500DL.EXE
inside the VM. Interact with the camera. Move the
output from the Guest, to the Host, via File Sharing.
Since the Windows 7 OS would not be activated, you'd
reinstall it once a month. Or, you'd use DAZ Loader
to activate it, and make it your constant companion.

    *******

A savvy user *always* checks for a CD/DVD in the box.
*Never* buy hardware, with a "promise" that software
will be "easy to get later dude". Because the above is
what happens to you. The drawbridge has been pulled up,
and you're on the wrong side of the moat.

    The end,
    Paul

(It probably pays, when making such a post, to say what the device _is_.
I gather from Paul's post that it's a camera of some sort.)

How can I find it ?

That is corporate greed for you.

Did you buy it direct from Sony? Did you tell whoever you bought it from (whether that is Sony or not) that you intended to run it under XP?

Though I'm not _too_ fond of Sony, I don't think you can claim corporate
greed unless the answer to both those questions is yes. (I. e. just
because _your_ XP Pro is "new", doesn't mean I'd expect Sony to support)
