Are you sure the network card is not working? It may be the /modem/
drivers that are missing. Assuming you are not on dialup, remove the
modem from the machine and recheck to see if there are no longer any
missing drivers.
To share files on a networked Win2k machine I beleive all you have to do
is enable file sharing
<Tools>, <Folder Options>, <View>
'Use simple file sharing'
Thanks Philo. The modem is OK. The connection is through ethernet and the eithernet driver is installed OK.

I don't know about the details of the problem you described, but if you
connect the two computers directly with an Ethernet cable it will take
the complication of the router out of the equation. Many years ago when >> I had a couple of W2K computers I did this and it worked so well, I used >> one computer's hard drive as a drive on the other computer. It was
virtually transparent.
I do know that in general networking and especially wireless networking
in harder to set up under W2K than newer versions of windows. That is
one reason I stopped connecting my PCs, that and the fact that my laptop >> is faster and has a larger hard drive, so I just don't bother with the
desktops anymore. lol
Rick
Thanks Rick. I may end up doing that temporarily. This network has the
modem connected by ethernet to the router, then split to each computer. If I use ethernet PC-to-PC, I would lose net access. (I got a supply of CD's yesterday myself! LOL!!)
I guess I assumed you meant a wireless router. Can't you connect
wirelessly to the router?
