After performing the v5.5 AUP, when trying to run wcreports from our
server I got the following error(in a popup window):

"mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered: a
    file is missing or invalid"

I was able to run wcreports remotely from workstations on the network,
and all seemed normal until attempting to view any message from any
conference under the messages tab of WcReports. I get a popup error of:

    "Runtime error "13" Type mismatch"

Searching the server (NT 4.0 wkst sp6a) revealed mscomctl.ocx was not
present. I placed a copy of the file from a network workstation (a win98
se machine) into the server's /system32/ folder and wcreports appears to
    work [normally?].

I still get the runtime error on the other workstations though, they
are win95 and win98 OS machines.

I searched the knowledge and message bases, the only reference to
runtime errors I seem to find are for runtime 5 errors in the wcreports conference.

    Any ideas?

    Dave Gourd

wcREPORTS actually needs to be installed an not just ran from the other workstations... There are quite a few .DLL files and .OCX files that
need to accompany the program and those need to be registered in the
running computers registry... What it looks like is you do not have all
the files you need (or updated ones) to run wcREPORTS on the networked machines....

When Hector gets back, he should be updating the redistributable install
for wcREPORTS, and this should solve your problem.

Thanks Mark. I'll try that but it's been installed on one of the win95
machines since 1996 (MY first wc5 machine, now a 'retired server') and
on the win98 box since 1998 (the second server, since retired) and on the
    winnt box since 1999.

I also used to be able to run wcreport (and all other wc clients)
across the LAN using 'wildcatnetworking'. Do you know if it's may have
anything to do with vb runtime files?

I can wait until Hector gets back on his feet, and watch here, I'll
post the results of further attempts to resolve this.

I wondered if anyone else had the same problem, certainly not a
resounding show of hands so must be fairly local- in fact you are the
    first and only response.

    Thanks.

I haven't heard of anyone else running into this issue... But yes it
very well could be the runtime files (actually I would almost gaurantee
it)... We added some upgraded .DLL's and updated .OCX's to this build,
so what you had before looks the same, but the under-pinnings are a bit different...

This has been fixed and has been reported to how to fix.

Do a search of the past 2-3 weeks of messages and you should find the answer
    :)

Do a search of the messages database here for

".ocx or one of its dependencies" or simply "ocx" (without quotes)

in the WIN Server or wcreport message groups- there has been some
discussion and remedies to a few ocx problems. Messages dating from about 05.16.2002 to present are the one's your are looking for.

As far as I know, the runtime error 13 has not yet been rectified, at
least I still have that problem when working with messages in wcreport.
