Hi, would somebody please help me out here,

    ---------
and on upgrading from the upgrade .exe in my wcreports folder I get the following message

Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

Try opening up a DOS prompt and going to your System32 directory, and
see if this file exists... If it does, run the following command:

    regsvr32 MSCOMCTL.OCX

ComponentError returned the following data transfer error.
    Setup will now abort.

    Media Name: data
    Component: Shared DLLs
    File Group: regdlls

This one is a little different... Can't off the top of my head remember
what the Installshield error is for this... But it seems like the file
was corrupted and couldn't be copied... OR

Anything is possible since I have never been able to reproduce the
problem... But it is really doubtful... If that were the case you
would be having quite a few other problems as well...

There is either something in your data that its not liking... Error 13 -
Type mismatch is usally called by an implicit conversion of something
that wasn't expected... IE: Say something like "one" is entered in
place of "1"... Doing math on something like this would give you a Type Mismatch error...

    Mark,
I too am still getting the error 13 type mismatch and like John, has
been for quite a long time now.

For me it pops up when I try to open ANY message in ANY conference from
any machine on the LAN except the machine where WINS is installed.

WcReports works great on the server. I have lived with it, but it is a
pain when I have to go clear to the other end of the building just to
    use WcReports on the server.

    WINServer is winnt 40 wkst
Other machines are win 95 and 98SE

Only when opening ANY message in any conference via the remote machines
    using wcreports.

All machines are up to date with windows/ms; actually the w95 machine
has had no changes in sw except for MSIE security updates whenever they
    become available.

This problem became evident here sometime just before or after an AUP,
around the time the big AUP where we had to do the conversion - maybe a
year or so ago? Like I said, no real big deal- most things I need to do remotely via wcreports can be done except for open any given messages
unless I use wcreports on the winserver machine.

The convert thing itself didn't seem to work as I expected- wins never
did operate/run from the 'new' directories created during the
conversion (I have long since just deleted those dirs), but otherwise everything appeared to work under the new WINS version and those
updates since, so I never messed or bothered with it.

I am current with AUP, and also do gammas when Hector makes them
    available.

As I recall from my old basic programming days, if you try to put
alpha/string data where code expects numerics you have problems but not necessarily when you try to put numerics where alpha data is expected,
and I suspect that might be a clue to this given the 'type mismatch'
    error.

I too am still getting the error 13 type mismatch and like John, has
been for quite a long time now.

For me it pops up when I try to open ANY message in ANY conference
any machine on the LAN except the machine where WINS is installed.

WcReports works great on the server. I have lived with it, but it
pain when I have to go clear to the other end of the building just to
    use WcReports on the server.

    WINServer is winnt 40 wkst
Other machines are win 95 and 98SE

Is there anything different on those machines than the Server? IE: Is
the date/time set the same with the same format? Do you have the same
fonts installed? etc... Win95 I could maybe see if it didn't have the proper updates, but 98SE should have all relevant updates out of the
    box...

Does this happen when you double click on a conference or when you
double click on a message in a conference?

There is no change. I guess I will have to buy a new copy of wcreports. Its been happening for a couple years now, probably one of the AUPs or something. John

Actually that shouldn't be the issue... Div by 0 is a completely
different error message... Do you have any machines that wcReports
    actually do run on?

Is it when you double click on the conferences, or is it when you ar
    double clicking on a message?

    Is it all conferences?

Mark, this is the same thing I was telling you about 2 years ago.

I can't get it to install properly now ... I got it install partial, but not everything.

It appears that my DLL's and OCX' are there but registering them manually would be an unexperienced task for me to perform.

    regsvr32 drive:\path\filename

    Fred:
Thanks Fred, I will try that.
I was planning on uninstalling my winserver and reloading the whole thing. It wouldn't uninstall so I tried to intall over the old one and that failed also. I guess I will get a new hard drive and plug it into my box in an empty drive slot and see if a whole new installation might cure the problem, and then use the old drive to run my other programs.
The clencher is I installed the whole thing on my wife' laptop to see if a clean install would work and it worked perfectly. The problem is the wcx's, webpages, data, and $20,000 worth of other programs I have on the server drive. I suppose I am in for an extensive rebuild pretty soon. I keep two hard drives online and clone them for backup in case one fails. I really need to know how to completely uninstall the winserver from the main hard drive that would be the saving grace.
