• a fidonet.org solution

From August Abolins@2:221/1.58 to all on Wed Mar 27 21:47:36 2019
    Hello all,

I had a "spare" domain laying around and tried an experiment a few minutes ago.

Instead of changing the Nameservers to point to Joacim's ISP servers, I simply did a Pointer change.

    In Pointers option:

    - Set up the domain home directory or forward location.
    - URL / https://fidonet.io

..and then I have an option to select "Standard" or "Stealth"

    - I chose Stealth.

The domain for my test is http://catchthetrout.ca

    The results speak for themselves.

The existing mailservers and other DNS records are not affected.

This could be the right solution.

Agreed, there are solutions possible that allow for updating content
on the home page but leave the underpinnings alone.
