But OK, if Lee is what it all boils down to, I still don't see why those othernets can't have their echoes distributed the regular FidoWeb way. Private echoes are still respected AFAIK, so why?

Personally I stay shy of any such coteries, and has been doing so for more than 30 years now. Works for me, YMMV.

Fidonet is, or at least used to be, for the BBS users not the sysops. Maybe that's what putting some people off? They only got to the sysop's echoes and never got to the core of FidoNet?

But I guess almost nobody remembers, or even cares about, the users any more?

P4 thumping. People should realize that there really aren't users anymore,
very little at best.

Fidonet is a network plain and simple, one that is being avoided by new

Fidonet is the result of the efforts of all the sysops that offers their time, skills, money and wills to give a service to all the users, a service that brings and shares ideas and concepts.
You're right saying that fidonet is a BBS network but IMHO you're wrong saying that it isn't a sysops network, because without sysops there aren't BBSs. ;)

Good point! But you are a Sysop and you have to grant a good service to your users, moreover to all the fidonet users, so how can you grant a good service allowing everyone to do everything he want to do.
I already said, freedom without rules is anarchy and anarchy brings to nothing else than chaos. :(
