• HTick TICPWD?

From Eric Renfro@1:135/371 to All on Sat Jul 20 09:41:08 2019
    So, curious question.

HPT supports %PKTPWD to change the packet password used, but I don't see in the help file samples anything for TIC Password changing.

Is this not a supported option to do?

What does that ticpwd? What should happen in case of a mismatch?

Well, the idea is of course to be able to change your own TIC password, much like you can the PKT Password. HPT's Areafix accepts %PKTPWD newpass, but HTick does not document a similar thing for %TICPWD password that I can see.

Whether or not it actually does support it or not, I don't know, it's just not documented so I assume it's not supported.

Same rules still apply though, the subject should contain the CURRENT password, while %TICPWD would be setting what you want to change it to, and it would change it in the appropriate file that defines the node and all, just like HPT's Areafix does, but for Filefix with HTick.

A short rgrep found an hpt/TODO file:

    - remote change areafixpwd, pktpwd, ticpwd, filefixpwd by links [done by AL]

So i guess it's not documented. Or maybe it is. But for the *fix %help answer i
see the option of a customized helpfile by the sysop. This had to be updated in
    case of new features manually.

Hmmm, Yeah. It's not provided in the source. I checked hpt and htick misc/*.hlp before I even asked. :)

I'll try those out, verify they even work as expected.

If not then the question is who is AL and where is his/her code. ;)
