Hi All,

I'm just set up HPT and HTick on my Windows 7 system, which is running as a
hub for another network. Echomail is flowing quickly! I'm loving it!

The only issue that I'm having, is incoming netmail messages are giving me
the error message of:
Exception 0xc0000005 (Access violation) at address 0x002a9a1e

It will then leave the .tos file in my inbound.

The settings are set up roughly the same way that my Linux system is running, so those should be correct.

I'm just not sure where I should be looking to try to figure this one out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know what is causing your issue. You are running Windows, that's what it is.

I know what is causing your issue. You are running Windows, that's what
it is.

That was my first thought as well. :) It may be changing in the not too
distant future, but I'd like to get it running right for now.

If my subject line looks strange, GoldED does that for some reason with subject
lines that begin with "Re:". I have not been drinking.. ;)

That was my first thought as well. :) It may be changing in the not
too distant future, but I'd like to get it running right for now.

If you rename those .tos files back to .pkt do you get the same results?

One thing to try is grab the latest from the gitbub page or..

Sure... That's what they all say... ;)

Yes, I get the same results. I still have them in the inbound directory, and will periodically try renaming and tossing them. Each time, I get the (Access violation) crash.

I guess I should have stated that in the original post... It's hpt/w32-mvc 1.9.0-cur 2019-01-08. I'll grab the current one from November, and see what happens.

Ok, I just updated to: hpt/w32-mvcdll 1.9.0-cur 2019-11-24, and I'm still getting the error... :(

still getting the error... :(

Bummer that. I have never used a windows version of hpt and have never seen anything like that in the linux version I run here. I also just updated to 2019-11-24 a week or so ago.

If enabled, GoldED inserts the "Re:" string in front of the
subject when you reply to a message. If not enabled, GoldED will
strip any leading "Re:" when you reply to a msg.

The "Re:" string in subjects is an obsolete practice, and today it
only slows down modern replylinking software. Do yourself and
others a favor and let GoldED strip the Re: in your replies.

The "numeric" option makes GoldED use numeric Re:'s, of the form
"Re^n:".

This keyword can be used globally and in Random System groups.

It happens as soon as I hit <Alt>Q to reply, I can see it in the header.

I am currently using Jam bases but have seen the same with Squish bases also. I
use a mix of OSs, generaly slackware or debian, always the x86_64 releases.

Maybe it a 32 vs 64 bit thing?

If you set it to no it will not insert Re: and strip it from replies.

I don't want the Re: on there either. I wouldn't mind if it just left it there untouched.

My golded does that by default without any EDITREPLYRE keyword in the config. I

Maybe. My Linux is 32-bit (Raspbian).

That is my best guess. Only a guess.

You could try MsgEd ;)

I like msged also although I don't have it up and running ATM. I takes a little
care and attention to get set up. I think that was Tobias's doing some years ago and it hasn't been looked at in a long time.

Msged also uses .sql last read pointers. That's not really a problem but if you
pick up again with another editor like golded it won't know where you left off. That's only an issue if you use Jam messages bases.

I find when replying with msged the quotes can be a little zig zagy so you need
to fix that up a bit, if you care about those things.

None the less msged is a very capable message editor and I'll likely have it up
and running here sooner or later.
