The same reason I also have a Zone 2 address. It was easier getting point addresses than in Zone 1.

You should get a respond if your message "test" is to "All",
    not to "all". ;)

the bot really should be agnostic, tho... especally since not all systems erroneously(?) force certain uses of case in some fields...

"Should"? I am not aware of any standard covering this. Correct me if I am wrong.

especally since not all systems erroneously(?) force certain uses of
    case in some fields...

That is not the problem of the bot I's say. It is as Tommy says, if you want a response, adrress to "All". Lacking a binding standard, it is up to the bot's maker to set the rules...

    Cheers, Michiel

It's the mirror.pl of huskyproject running here, with tiny modifications.

Yes, seems easy to make it case insensitive.

    Yeah. :)

one of the things i was speaking of, yes... some software will force the to/from fields to all caps or proper case... other more enlightened software will leave things as the writer wrote it...

software forcing its idea of name case is just wrong...

eg: one's name contains "van der" but software forces it to "Van Der" which may be triggering to some...

Thanks! I just sent a couple of PINGs to Brother Rabbit's node. Let's see how
    it goes.

At least in your case the routing is going as I expected:

    Saturn's Orbit (4:801/188) -> R80 Hub (4:80/1) -> Manuel Adorni (4:90/1) -> Ward (2:292/854) -> You (2:221/1).

I wonder if this routing is the same for the entire R2...

Yes, I do. Basically all 4:801 systems route netmail through 4:80/1, which sends everything to Manuel at 4:90/1.

I will try to send you a ping. One of the things I can do here is change routing in a way that netmail towards Region 2 be routed through Ward's system instead of Manuel's. That's not the best option, but we can try... Let's see how does the PING work first.

That's a pitty. And none of the systems between me and Flavio support it. Manual seems to be using an older FMail, that doesn't support it at all. And Ward's system doesn't support Trace.

All Brazilian systems connect to this system - which answers Binkp only - and get their Fido feed from there.

    Yes. It does. http://ftsc.org/docs/fts-0009.001

The serial number may be any eight character hexadecimal number, as long as it is unique - no two messages from a given system may have the same serial number within a three years.

A simple test message won't give you the answer to that. You will have to ask every node in the fidonet nodelist, to know for sure... ;)

This is not required. It is enough to ask the standard. ;)

    Have nice nights.

Too many carrots, or too few? ;)

I *have* asked the great ftsc oracle and it spoke to me thusly:

"The serial number MAY BE any eight character hexadecimal
number, as long as it is unique" [Emphasis in CAPS]

MAY is just a suggestion. So is the "eight" part actually.

    Hallo All,

Does the MSGID in this one break anything?

It fails the eyeball test (the "serial no" field is not made of hexadecimal characters) - but it doesn't break anything with Synchronet or SBBSecho which treats the entire message-ID as an opaque string of text.

MAY is just a suggestion. So is the "eight" part actually.

By that reasoning not only the "eight" but the "character", "hexadecimal" and "number" are just suggestions as well. By that reasoning it could be anything including "empty".

So by reasoning ad absurdum it follows that you are wrong. The correct interpretation is that it MUST be an eight digit hexadecimal number, but the value MAY be any value as long as it is unique.

LOL. Thanks for that Saturday morning funny!

But do note that the great ftsc oracle proclaims that "The serial number..", NOT "The OPTIONAL serial number..." :D

In addition, the "as long as it is unique" implies that it is not to be an empty field.

So.. it is indicating that, as a minimum, there must be a number, and serial. But it does not say consecutive serial numbers either. ;)

False logic. The empty field is no more or no less unique than the field containing only the letter "a" or the field containg the string "XyZZy". Or anything else. The "unique" requirement just limits it to only use it once.

Found in my dupes area. This one was routed through 301/1, with the
newlines removed between the ' - ' and '---' lines...

Right. And Matthias of 301/1 is not responding to netmail...

The symptoms of a returnee, who lost interest after a couple months...?

    That's what I see here.

There were 3 empty lines before and after the minus "-" line in the original two test messages.

So where are the empty lines before the " - " line? Is there also software out there that strips those "empty" lines?

    Bye, Wilfred.

    Indeed.

Is there also software out there that strips those "empty" lines?

If so, I hope it does not affect intransit mail. PATH is seen up there.
