Testing ChristNet HUB BBS connection with Fidonet... please ACK.

First, it made it to Arkansas.

Second, is this a new message network?? Years ago, there was a Christian related message network called SON_Net, but that's long gone...although I
have several bulletins that originally came from there. If this is a new message network, I'd be interested in an info pack.

    Ward,

First, it made it to Arkansas.

Hmmmm ... maybe this could be a new expression ... to indicate
something positive do not say "yup", "OK", "That's correct" ... replace all that with "It made it to Arkansas" ... something like "Let's go, Brandon" ...

Well, it lets him know how far the message got. Besides, in a bulletin
I have on the BBS, no one wants a message that has a lot of it requoted,
just to have a reply of "I agree", etc. While most BBS's now move their
packets via the internet, there are still some dial-up systems out there,
that deal with Zone Mail Hour.

Years ago, an individual named Doug Brandon, owned a furniture business
in central Arkansas, named Brandon House Furniture. But, this was when President Biden was just a member of Congress...and a proponet of riding
Amtrak to and from Delaware and Washington, DC. They named the Wilmington, Delaware station in his honor. Brandon House Furniture is long gone now, though. The ONLY thing I like about Joe Biden is his support of Amtrak. Otherwise, I can't stand him.

And, I understand that when he was visiting the Pope, he defecated in
his underwear. Never mind "The Old Gray Mare, they ain't what they used
to be...went down to Delaware...and pooped in their underwear". He is
now saying that Fauci is president...and Vice President Kamala Harris'
staff is heading for the door in droves...like school kids do at the
    afternoon dismissal bell.

I saw a story on Fox News where there's actually a business in Rhode
Island called "Let's Go Brandon", selling all sorts of related items.

What gets me is that the liberals were constantly saying "[Screw]
Donald Trump"...and they thought nothing of it. Well, that the tables
are turned, and folks are saying "[Screw] Joe Biden", they are having
a conniption fit. That proves to me that "they prefer to dish it out,
    but they can't take it".

To make matters worse, Alexandria Oscasio Cortez said "there is no
smash and grab looting of stores". She should have stayed bartending...
because she (and the other liberals) know darn well this stuff is occurring...they choose to "conveniently ignore it". Instead of being
drunk on alcohol, she's drunk on power.

There is going to be a revolution...never mind all the Democrats
and Republicans announcing that they are retiring. Too bad they
still get the same pay and benefits retired, as they do while they
are "working" (I use that term loosely). To me, they should only
get 10% of their salary and benefits in retirement. Before they
get voted in, they give voters "the thumbs up". Afterwards, they
give us "the bird". Many lament they can't survive on $250,000+
    a year...they don't have a clue. I guarantee that when they die,
they won't even have a wooden nickel in their hand.

The ONLY reason I accept Biden and the others in there is because
of the Bible verse Daniel 2:21, which notes "The Lord sets up kings,
and He removes kings". So, Biden is in there for a reason. However,
I'm afraid "the glory days of America" are long gone.

Socialism does NOT work...no matter what Bernie Sanders says.
They choose to IGNORE the situations in Cuba, Venezuela, Russia,
China, North Korea, etc. I hope these folks heads are the first
to roll when the bottom falls out...and I pray I'm dead and gone
    when it does.

I beg to differ ... the news is the news <period>.

There is no rightwing nor leftwing news ... there's only "the news", the facts.

I suppose you never saw Walter Cronkite ..... He came on TV in the evening and read the news, and when he was done, it was done.

No interpretations, no cutting-up the facts and stacking them in a different order thereby inventing new truths ...

Fox News is a TV show, it's not about the news, it's about viewer statistics and selling commercials. BTW, my reaction to your rebutal is already ready ... here it is ....

"Yeah ... blah blah blah ... I know about CNN. The CNN we get here in Europe however is not the CNN from in North America, it's actually a quite decent newsservice here. I saw CNN overthere and it gave me diarhea as well ... So why go on about Fox News? Well ... I didn't inject it in the thread, soneone else did."

    {this is called shortening the conversation}

    Glad to see you, Ward!

    John,

I saw a story on Fox News ...

    That's usually where I stop reading ...

Which is part of the problem. At the very least you need to know what
    your "opposition" is thinking.

    {this is called shortening the conversation}

    Take care,

LOL.. I know all about Cronkite. There are arguments to me made about him (and that era) because there was just as much (if not more) editorialising, the only difference was it happened in the editorial process rather than expressed outright on air.

The fact is that the bug media IS all about entertainment and always has been. The 10% (maybe) factual content is wrapped in narrative. SO the two issues are 1. Choosing WHAT to show and 2. Choosing how to frame/contextualise it.

    I was born in 1966...

You probably are only aware about the crap North American commercial media. Of the 42 odd countries I have lived or worked in around the world in the last 35 years, I have spent a sum total of 11 days in the USA.. I am more than peripherally aware of the craziness of media around the world.

Unfortunately, there are very few like him when it comes to "news" in the US these days.

There used to be a CNN Headlines News station, which was more "condensed"
than its parent that which ran pretty much what you'd expect... the news headlines with little opinion injected. That station still exists, but I cannot tell much of a difference between it and CNN these days.

I liked watching Headline News, for a quick news overview. When I'm
out on errands, I listen to the local news/talk station, with a brief
blurb of Fox News, then local news at the top and bottom of the hour. Otherwise, I listen to either classical music (Beethoven, Rachmaninoff,
Mozart, Lizst, etc.) or classic country music (Conway Twitty, Loretta
Lynn, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, etc.). I wish there was still a "big
band station" or an "easy listening station" in the market.

For a long time we were able to get AFN ... odd as it may sound, they had a decent programming.

Did they quit broadcasting in your area? I used to be able to pick it up
on shortwave but it has been years since I had a SW radio that worked.

With at least 2 US bases in this country plus NATO HQ located in Brussels, I'm assuming they still broadcast, but I no longer have a radio.

In the early 70-ies that's how I got introduced to the Wolfman Jack. Through American Forces Network.
