12 Chicken wings (about 2 1/2
lb Total)
2 tb Chinese five-spice powder
1 tb Vegetable oil
1/2 c Dry white wine
1/3 c Thin sliced, peeled fresh
- ginger
1/4 c Soy sauce
2 tb Hoisin sauce
2 tb Frozen orange juice
- concentrate
2 tb Honey
1 cl Garlic; thin sliced
Cut off and reserve tips of chicken wings for the stock
pot.
Cut wings at joints to form 24 pieces. Place chicken wing
pieces in a large bowl. Sprinkle with five-spice powder;
toss to coat.
In a 12" skillet heat oil over medium-high heat. Add
chicken wings; cook about 10 minutes or until brown on
both sides. Drain off fat.
For sauce, in a small bowl combine wine, ginger, soy
sauce, hoisin sauce, orange juice concentrate, honey, and
garlic. Pour sauce over chicken wings.
Bring to simmering. Cook, covered, for 5 minutes, stirring
once. Cook, uncovered, about 5 minutes more or until
chicken is no longer pink and sauce is slightly thickened,
stirring occasionally.
