OK, this is a 32 bit jamnntpd server running on a 64 bit system, Cthulhu accept my sacrifice and let the TO field populated! :D

You *do* know that when sacrificing a virgin, virgin olive oil will *not* be
    accepted as a substitute? 8-)

    Mercy for me!

Now I'm burning in the flames of ancient gods in R'lieh crying around asking "Why? Why?"

If only a mercy hand would treat my wounds with the sacred Italian Extra Virgin
Olive Oil, my pain will be reduced. :)

But at least, who cares about reading and writing fido messages with an nttp browser? :P :P :P

(Sooner or later I'll be winning) ;)

Crikey-Moses! You're not having any good luck. If it's your own compile, and you're actually replying to Tommi's message, then your JamNNTPd is not honouring the Fidonet bits. That's something I noticed in a previous message too.

When I looked around for a binary back in 2011 to run in Xubuntu/32 10.04 LTS, I put aside the newly-compiled binary and went back to using an older project I
did in Puppy Liunx 4.12 (Linux 2.6.xx). It worked... properly.

I was also using Puppy-compiled binaries for CrashMail (before FMail32/lnx), rather than new compiles. They work especially well in 32bit VMs too.

Can I interest you in some old favourites?

    Cheers,
    Paul.

Probably not. Are you aware of the problem that I had with a rsync-type tool called mirdir (LINUX echo)? The 32bit would not run in 64bit Xubuntu. It flat-out refused, citing odd errors... anything but the real truth. I had to compile from source using some CLI voodoo from a friend in Russia.

    (Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.4.0-159-generic x86_64))

You have to add the ia32 libraries and compilers and build with the -m32 switch.

Or if I compile jamnntpd in 32bit i386 system, will it run in 64bit
    x86_64 linux?

    This is another option:

It' simple, you have to add the i386 architecture to the system and install the

i386 libraries needed by the binary you want to run, for debian based distributons you have to do this:

    dpkg --add-architecture i386
    apt update
    apt install libc6-i386

now you can run ia32 binaries on a amd64 system. :)

This is a tie for me. :)
The real win is to compile ad run a working version on a 64 bit system,
and let me say that is an hard work, I'm not anymore a developer and it's
not simple to deal with 64/32 boundaries, I've tried to adapt the jam
libraries to work with another type definition for 32 bit unsigned
integer and the result is a strong segafult. :(

I think that right path could be smapinntpd but it has to be reworked to achieve a real working server (strong enough to defeat the hacking tries)
    on 64 bit system.

Now if all works fine I'll stay on 32 bit jamnntpd 1.0 32 bit server on a
64 bit linux meanwhile I'll try to switch from rntrack to perl scripts
for netmail tracking, a long way is in front of me to get a full
functional node, but it's an hobby, so time is on my side. :)

Thanks to you, Tommy, Paul and all the guys that helped me, let's see if
this configuration works fine and I'll release the service to anyone. :)

Wow never noticed, It's changed in my reply to your message with the 32 bit jamnntpd 1.3.

Not true. 1.3 works perfect when compiled in 32bit OS/2 and 32bit
Windows, as well as in 32bit Raspberry PI2 / Ubuntu.

There is something weird in 64bit linux. :)

Not really. I'm normally too busy reading taglines or origins, than message text.

In truth my interest in subject lines waned after spending 15 years in the Win95 echo, where subject lines rarely matched discussions, and, discussions rarely had anything to do with Win95. It confused the hell out of visitors to the echo and helped to move them on, elsewhere.[evil grin]

Oh, look at that subject line! G-o-l-l-y...
