• Empty to field with all nntp readers

Ok, now a strange issue, with all the "good" readers (Sylpheed and PAN) when I answer to a post in this group I get the TO: field empty.

Now I posted in a R33 test area a message with golded and answered with pan, no
problem and the TO: field is correctly filled.

    I don't know why. :(

When you answer to a post here with Sylpheed do you put the TO: field in the first row of the message or all goes right simply answering?

    Thank you.

    Ciao!

I was wondering that also.. Because I have no problems answering.

In fidotest there is an answered message from me to Dan Clough with PAN and there the to field is ok! :/
The problem is in THIS echo! :(

Hmm, strange indeed... how about your msgbase format? Any difference?

    I seriously doubt that.

These are the paths of two messages originated by you, one in FIDOTEST and another in JAMNNTPD:

    Path in FIDOTEST:
    SEEN+BY: 203/0 221/0 1 6 360 240/1120 1634 8002 261/38 280/464 5003 5555 SEEN+BY: 313/41 335/364 2452/250

    Path in JAMNNTPD:
    SEEN+BY: 203/0 221/0 1 6 360 240/1120 280/464 5003 5006 5555 335/364
    @PATH: 221/6 1 280/5003 240/1120

In JAMNNTPD Kees is in the meddle.

Now I should take a deep look at the messages in both areas. :)

    Ciao!

Tomorrow I'll send you my config for a 4 eyes check but I think it's ok.

I suspect something in the middle, all my international areas are fed by Uli, the only one that Uli gets from Kees is jamnntpd and it's a pass-through area for him and I have troubles only with jamnntpd echo.

I have to dig in. ;)

I checked your configs, only one thing: The msgbase type should be defined just
before path, but maybe smapinntpd has jam default if type is not defined.

    jamnntpd N 2:335/364 /home/husky/msgBase/jamnntpd

Absolutely not. It spontaneously instilled itself in my conciousness.

I'd heard of "bone pointing" but not much more.

I first heard tales of the use (usually in the form of a threat) in one of my early secondary school classes. The 'bone' bit & the shoes that leave no print
of the spirit man in the dirt, as he stalks a victim. I never got a chance to ask about them of my aunty Flo' (a full-blood 'coloured person').

I'm not happy with it. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

All things considered I would hunt for a better solution. The newer JamNNTPd versions cannot be trusted. Nor can attempting 64bit compilations. Heck, even
the original basic SMAPI version cannot be either, as warned by Johan in his documentation; it was a test version of itself.

I would still be content with 32bit compiles operating in a vBox VM. They haven't failed me yet.

Indeed. And why it is happening only in one certain Fabio's base?

All things considered I would hunt for a better solution.  The newer JamNNTPd versions cannot be trusted.  Nor can attempting 64bit compilations.  Heck, even the original basic SMAPI version cannot be

    They haven't failed me yet.

I have three JamNNTPd's running in 32bit systems. They all work fine.

OS/2, compiled with the good old GCC 3.2.1
Windows server 2003, compiled with Cygwin GCC version 5.4.0
Raspberry PI2, compiled with gcc version 5.4.0

It would be nice to have a real programmer to get JamNNTPd work in 64bit
    OS. :)

A picture is worth a 1000 words, someone said. Depp proved what a fish looks like out of water. Damned awkward. A high point in the flick is the way the hotel concierge deals with Depp, deviously & nonchalantly. 8-)
