Linux version 5.8.8 (root@bitskii)
That could work for a single machine, annoys when you have 10, and appears almost impossible when you have over a hundred.
However it still is having troubles with the i915drmfb frame buffer
device wrt Intel UHD Graphics 630 and mplayer using fbdev2 as the
output device. It works perfect with pre 5.8.x kernel versions. I
haven't tried it with anything else since this is the only machine I
ever do multimedia stuff on at the moment. My best guess is that the kernel's framebuffer drivers still need work.
Possibly you've misconfigured it...
% dmesg | grep i915
[ 2.171089] i915 0000:00:02.0: vgaarb: deactivate vga console
[ 2.173576] i915 0000:00:02.0: vgaarb: changed VGA decodes: olddecodes=io+mem,decodes=none:owns=io+mem
[ 2.205643] [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20200515 for 0000:00:02.0 on minor 0
[ 2.481708] fbcon: i915drmfb (fb0) is primary device
[ 3.072236] i915 0000:00:02.0: fb0: i915drmfb frame buffer device
Everything works just fine here.
