Was it so that one could read Usenet in Mystic BBS? I mean Mystic BBS is capable to do so right?

If you gate Usneet news to FTN packets you can read them and reply in
Mystic.
Mystic also allows you to post to a message base defined as type
'newsgroup' this simply ensures any posts sent are sent to 'All'
Thanks for the reply!
I thought so that I saw somewhere that it's doable.
So there is some instructions thingie somewhere or?
Need to start researching this once got some more slack but now need to move manure around ...
Best bet is to use a service already available. Nick (Zone 1 ZC) runs a service, his advert is in one of the fido advert echos, I also offer
nodes who are in fsxNet (Zone 21) a bi-directional gateway to a NNTP
server I run.
Info on that can be found in www.bbs.nz/fsxnet.zip if interested.
Thanks for the info and for the link. Downloaded and moved into the endlessly growing "look through" pile :)
You're welcome. Sing out if you need further info / help :)

Just want to clear one thing ... Let's say I have paid provider which I would like to use for the BBS as a source. Is it hard or difficult or
what to share that so that users can also post via this account but with their own handles?
Not really had time to look into this, so thought just ask before
thinking anymore it hurts
Well for Mystic it's a user posting to echomail with their real name or handle. In the case of fsxNet Usenet those echomail packets are gated to
a news post which is posted to the NNTP server using the From: name /
alias supplied.
If you look at how this reply is gated through and shows up in the
newsgroup you will see it comes from my 'real name' as that is the rule
I am abiding by here by posting in the Fidonet MYSTIC group.. but for
others who have posted here using their alias the same things happens,
and in Usenet the post shows as coming from the alias.
So you are posting here from Mystic? That's nice.

One more thing I'd like to ask about the matter. How recourse heavy is getting user subscribed groups down and so. If I recall correctly fropm back in the days NNTP servers were quite light weight on other but disks screamed like maniacs .. but that was in 90's so :)
Thanks Paul for answers!
