Hello g00r00,
I just updated to the current prealpha and messages seem to get a TZUTC kludge t hat says 0000, and the time stamp of messages seems to be using UTC time. Is it supposed to work that way?

Its pulling that information from your system settings (or should be).
Check that /etc/localtime and /etc/timezone are set correctly and we can go from there
I don't have an /etc/timezone, never did that I know of. I do have an /etc/local time and it is set to Pacific Daylight Time or America/Vancouver.
What Linux distro are you using?
I think you can also set the TZ environment variable and it will read g0> that.
I'll have to double check all of the steps it takes to find the timezone g0> but different distributions do different things so I'll start with that.
What Linux distro are you using?
Slackware64 14.2.
I think you can also set the TZ environment variable and it will readthat.
I do have both TZUTC and TZ set, BBBS requires it. My /etc/profile includes..
export TZUTC="-0700"
export TZ="PDT+7"
That'll change when PDT kicks back in.
I don't mind adding an /etc/timezone if that would help but I don't know what that file should look like.

My /etc/timezone file is just one line:
America/Toronto
I did try adding an /etc/timezone with "America/Vancouver" and it made
no difference for me. I'm not sure why it's not working for me and I see it is working for others.
I think my hard drive is starting to die (I seem to go through hard g0> drives kind of fast with all of my compiling for Mystic and other g0> projects) so I might have to put it off a little bit if that happens.
I still haven't had a chance to do anything with this yet. I did download the latest Slackware ISO but I haven't had a chance to try to get it installed in VMware to test with yet. Yep, spinning up various distros can be a PITA. I would try a live cd if youdon't need an actuall install. One of these might work for you. I'd suggest oneof the XFCE versions since they are small and would get a
quick slackwareenvironment up for you.
This just started happening with the last few A47 versions. It was
working forme with A47 two weeks ago.

This is helpful to know thank you!
I have upgraded the kernel and tzdata packages and it's working again. I thinkthis message will have a TZUTC kludge that says -0700.
I'm not sure why that is but we can scratch that off the list.
