    Hi all,

    I've been playing with the Nodelist Browser menu item but I can't seem to get it to work. I hit the menu option, and it brings up a new prompt asking for search criteria and help, but no matter what I do, it just refreshes the screen. Any thoughts on where to look?

    Thanks,
    Andy

    Do you have nodelists installed? If so you should be able to type any number of searches but if you think one isn't working please provide some detail. A quick test would be to type "list zone". There should be a file that explains how to search that is shown when you open the browser.

    You'll need a nodelist.txt in your data directory which is just a standard nodelist (No need to compile it or anything like that, Mystic just parses raw nodelists in real-time).

    If you have many nodelists you can append them all into one single nodelist.txt or use MUTIL to automatically identify the latest nodelists unzip them and create a nodelist.txt for you of all of your networks. The MUTIL feature is mostly used when you have
    networked file bases and you automatically get delivered new nodelists.

    I do and the nodelists are merged (according to the logs), but I don't have a nodelist.txt in the data directory. Here's my nodelist section in the my ini file:

    ; Strip nodes marked as DOWN?
    strip_down = true

    ; Strip nodes marked as PRIVATE?
    strip_private = true

    nodefile=c:\mystic\nodelists\nodelist
    nodefile=c:\mystic\nodelists\metlist
    nodefile=c:\mystic\nodelists\z1daily

    The logs show that they are merged successfully, see below from early this morning:

    + May 10 03:00:16 Process: Merging Nodelists
    + May 10 03:00:16 Merging nodelist
    + May 10 03:00:16 Merging metlist
    + May 10 03:00:16 Merging z1daily
    + May 10 03:00:16 Results: Merged 3 of 3 nodelist(s) in 0.00s

    I wil generate the txt file and confirm I'm good to go that way, but am curious as to why the mutil isn't working (I'm sure it's operator error).

    Thanks!

    I would suggest setting loglevel to 3 if its not and running the merge. Maybe there will be some more detail as to what is going on.

    I went ahead and set the debug logging level. Here's what I am seeing:

    + May 12 07:30:44 Process: Merging Nodelists
    + May 12 07:30:44 Merging z1daily
    + May 12 07:30:44 Searching "c:\mystic\nodelists\fidonet\* for archive "Z1DAILY"
    + May 12 07:30:44 Searching "c:\mystic\nodelists\fidonet\* for nodelist "Z1DAILY"
    + May 12 07:30:44 Searching "c:\mystic\temputil\* for nodelist "Z1DAILY"
    + May 12 07:30:44 Merging metlist
    + May 12 07:30:44 Searching "c:\mystic\nodelists\metronet\* for archive "METLIST"
    + May 12 07:30:44 Searching "c:\mystic\nodelists\metronet\* for nodelist "METLIST"
    + May 12 07:30:44 Searching "c:\mystic\temputil\* for nodelist "METLIST"
    + May 12 07:30:44 Results: Merged 2 of 2 nodelist(s) in 0.02s

    It seems like it's seeing the three different files and merging them, but still no updated nodelist.txt file. I'm going to try it on my base install (the one I do my upgrades on first) and see what happens. Maybe I did something wonky with my setup.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hmm the earlier stanza info you posted was

    nodefile=c:\mystic\nodelists\nodelist
    nodefile=c:\mystic\nodelists\metlist
    nodefile=c:\mystic\nodelists\z1daily

    On that basis I would have thought Mystic would have looked in c:\mystic\nodelists to find the files called 'nodelist' and 'metlist' and 'z1daily' but the above pathing seems to different. Did you update your nodefile entries?

    Do you have unzip installed?

    Best, Paul

    I moved the files to their own folders because of my desire to keep things clean. I updated the entries accordingly.

    Do you have unzip installed?

    That was a good thought (before I had zip in my path, but changed OSes). So I made sure the archive editor info was pointing to their location too, still no joy. I didn't get a chance to put them in my clean install but will do that tonight.

    Its not seeing any files. What it should be showing is that its finding and extracting files. Something more like:

    Merging Z1DAILY
    Searching "directory" for archive "Z1DAILY"
    Extracting Z1DAILY
    Command line: <extract command line>
    Searching "directory" for nodelist Z1DAILY
    Found Z1DAILY.123
    Compare Z1DAILY.123 to Z1DAILY.122
    Result Z1DAiLY.123
    Merging <directory>\Z1DAILY.123 into nodelist.txt

    Can you show what a directory listing looks like where the nodelists are? Something is absolutely off about this!

    You were spot on. The paths in the INI were not right. My ancient eyes didn't see it (I had my wife look at them). Fixed that typo and it's working like it should.

    Hah its crazy how many times you can look at something and miss a typo like that. I do it all the time at work where I read
    through an e-mail multiple times, hit send, and then immediately see a grammar mistake or something!

    Glad to hear its working... less work for me! ;)
