I know it has been a while, but how was the trip? Anything new in the world
    of Amtrak?

Just wondering how many readers the forum has and if anyone else has taken
    any trips lately.

I had a great trip. Boy the times were right on, even with delays we made
all our times. In fact I arrived home about 2 minuets early. The new CTRail
is doing good. I was disappointed that they went to box food east of Chicago in the first class sections. The dining car is there and only the first class passengers can access it. But they serve louzy box food. Not appealing at all. I missed the dining car food. I look forward to the Railroad French Toast, bacon, eggs and sausage.

I took some video on the way home from the train you can see them on my YouTube Channel

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOj5pmdjjYw
(Boy they give them crazy names hard to copy longhand)

My one disappoinment and it was my fault. I let me light jacke in the closet in the roomete on the train. I reported it right away, gave them the car number
my room number and told the EXACTLY where the jacket was. The never found it. That's disappointing. I think they jut never bothered to look for it. It should have been RIGHT THERE, I even gave them the attendents name. It's a specific jacket with my name and amateur call on it and the club logo. So it was not something they would not have recognized.

Well lesson learned. I usually check every space when I leave, I missed that one.

That's very disappointing to hear about the dining car. It's been a number
of years since I've taken any trips, but I always enjoyed the food in the dining car and meeting new people, etc. It's a real shame that is has gone away. What do they put in the box lunches?

Thanks for the link to your videos, I'll give them a look.

Maybe some new posts will encourage some new activity. Even though I'm not able to go myself, I always enjoy reading about trips that folks get to take.

    Any additional trips planned?

The only one I had was the breakfast, It had a muffin, which the attendent heated, and (ugh) yogert, I never liked yogert never will and,
some cold fruit, sorta like what you would have got with the cooked breakfast, but boxed up prehand. Oh and coffee, you could have seconds on that. Not really apatizing.

Theres not a lot to video here in CT. Unless you want to keep going back to the same site. Too bad. I guess I could check out the freight rails, trollys and other museums, (Danbury,Naugatuck).

    Hey Al & Ray,

I checked out your video Al, looks great and GREEN! (I say that as I am
here in central New Mexico LOL). I too enjoy these videos as a train enthusiest/hobby collector. I have a brother in Syracuse I will send it to also as he is a train guy as well!

Saddly the only rails we have ridden in the past 5 years are the local Rail Runner from Albuquerque up to Santa Fe for lunch in Santa Fe and then ride it back. It is a nice way to scratch the itch for a quick day ride and lunch!
This last October we took the kids on the Cumbres & Toltec narrow guage from Antonio Co. to Chama NM. being it was during the fall colors and it snowed on us 1/2 way it was a great day ride!!! Kids loved the open car during the
snow! This winter we will do our semi yearly Durango Silverton narrow gauge when they do the Polar Express on it. Great experience for adults too, not
    just kids!

Hey just wanted to chime in, excited seeing other rail fans! I will post some of our resent Cumbres & Toltec videos on my train website (www.trainboyz.com) in the future and let ya know when they are up if your interested in seeing.

    Take Care guys!

I tried to check out the videos, but no such luck. YouTube just kept giving
a message that the videos couldn't be viewed at this time. I wasn't on your page or anything, just a YouTube screen with that message. I may very well have copied down the URL wrong. I'll have to give it another try and see if
it was on my side. I do wish they made it a bit easier to exchange URLs on there.

    Heya Shane,

Sorry about the delay in replying, been busy and haven't gotten a chance to
get back over here. I'll have to try checking out the videos again. I
must've messed up the URL. Great to see another voice in the forum.

It's nice to see that there are still some local options for you. Service
near me is limited to a single long distance train a day. One pickup early
in the morning North bound and one pickup late in the evening South bound.
Not really convenient for day trips unfortunately.

That would be great. I'm going to stop by your website for a look as well,
but please make sure to share when you have new videos.

    Take care...
