Is there a text file that I don't know about that will show to a user when they enter a specific message area, that I can post some rules of that echo on.

in the documentation it lists all the textfile names.

Not really. You can easily replace the dynamically generated *list* of subs with a file:
https://wiki.synchro.net/custom:menu_files

but that would probably be tedious to maintain. And then there's the definition of what it means to "enter a specific message area". If you just new-scan all subs, is that "entering" each area?

Anyway, I'm sure whatever you want to do could likely be achieve through creative scripting (either JavaScript or Baja) and maybe some tweaking of your text.dat file.

That was my next thought, just wanted to ask first.

There are optional files that can be displayed when the user uses the "info" command for a sub-board or file directory (data/<code>.msg). This is where I would expect to file rules or other area-specific info.

this is old but it shows the filenames. you can just code something in to show your text file
