• Host-routing to points?

    DM,

    I brought this up a while ago, and I'm seeing behavior I don't understand.

    I have a rule in echocfg that says to route mail for 2:ALL with CRASH flavor.

    [node:2:ALL@fidonet]
    Name =
    Comment = Fidonet Zone 2
    Archive = ZIP
    PacketType = 2+
    PacketPwd =
    AreaFix = false
    AreaFixPwd =
    SessionPwd =
    TicFilePwd =
    Inbox =
    Outbox =
    Passive = false
    Direct = false
    Notify = false
    Keys =
    Status = Crash
    GroupHub =
    BinkpHost =
    BinkpPort = 24554
    BinkpPoll = false
    BinkpPlainAuthOnly = false
    BinkpAllowPlainAuth = true
    BinkpAllowPlainText = true
    BinkpTLS = false
    BinkpSourceAddress =

    But, when I look at my log, I see entries where, instead of host-routing mail destined for points, it's doing a nodelist lookup and failing.

    6/13 10:46:03a BINKOUT Attempting callout for 2:240/8005.323@fidonet, file: C:\sbbs\binkit\outbox.002\00f01f45.pnt\00000143.cut

    Is there a way that I'm missing to get sbbsecho to host-route all point mail to their boss nodes?

    You have no "Route" set, so this linked-node isn't going to achieve what you're stating.

    If you want to observe SBBSecho routing, watch the sbbsecho.log.

    No special configuration is needed for "route ... to boss nodes".

    I suppose that's where I'm missing something.

    What I'm trying to do is set a default route for zone 2 that will attempt to crash mail directly to any node for whom I don't have a specific linked node entry.

    You don't need a "route" to do that. What you're describing is a non-route. Just send the NetMail crash (or set SCFG->Networks->FidoNet->NetMail Defaults to Crash to "Yes").
