• Check Settings Issue?

From Hatton@1:103/705 to All on Wed Aug 19 21:31:58 2020
Occasionally I run the "Check Setup" script and every time it runs I get the following:

    Invoking: check_dove_net
    DOVE-Net: 21 sub-boards configured (instead of the expected: 22)

When I look in my messages setup I see 22 sub-boards (including Synchronet Data, which doesn't show up on the regular list when just browsing the list on the board). Is this a known issue or am I missing something?

    Thanks!
    Hatton

You're not missing anything. chksetup.js was originally designed to run from jsexec, which would then see all the sub-boards. You could also give yourself access to the SYNCDATA sub-board and then if/when you ran it online (e.g. from the doors menu), it should then see all 22 DOVE-Net subs.

Makes complete sense, thanks! Part of my job includes reporting issues my team finds in software to the developers so it's difficult not to carry that on to my hobbies as well.

Your wife does that too? Hmm... perhaps there is a virus going round???

Do you, Sysop, take this BBS, to be your lawfully wedded spouse??

Well, it's in the bedroom, but I'm the one getting screwed. <G>

Heh, at least in this case it's not in the bedroom - first decision we made setting this thing up (it's a shared sysop role board) was to run it from a VPS. That way none of our perspective spouses could take the board down by tripping a breaker ;)

Good choice. My late wife was first a user, then Co-Sysop. Since the
BBS was only dial-up, we were truly "Married With Modem". <G>

I never remarried after her death 13 1/2 years ago, as at this stage
of life, folks have too much personal baggage (physical, emotional,
familial, and financial), they or their kids may be in trouble with
the law, and they want someone else to fight their battles for them.
I don't want or need that drama in my life. While I'm busier than I
was when I was married, some days, it still gets awfully lonely...
especially now since I lost my Mom just over a year ago, and my Dad
died not 3 months before my wife died.
