• message area index numbers

From Sprite@1:103/705 to All on Mon Dec 14 06:54:10 2020
Is there some hack to be able to change message area numbers? I messed up and added my freshly restored message areas in alphabetical order when I really need them in a slightly different layout. I'd prefer to not have to go through re-adding them in the correct order all again (though I will if I have to).
Thanks for any input you may have...

You can cut and paste sub-boards in SCFG. It also has sorting options.

Forgive me here, I promise I'm not deliberately being obtuse... I'm just not exactly sure how you mean that should be done... You mean I can like hit ctrl-x on one of the message sub-boards under the applicable group and it will go into a buffer where I can ctrl-v it back in after I insert a blank in the appropriate position? I tried messing around using the mouse but didn't find any functionality that seemed to replicate what you're talking about...
As far as the sorting options, it seems that I could do what I wanted; I would probably have to prepend the number (0-9 I assume?) that I want the sub- board to be in the position of in the internal code and then do the corresponding sort... I would prefer the cutting and pasting, but I could do it this way if it comes down to it...
    TIA

Yes, but you don't need to insert a blank. It always paste-inserts above the currently selected item.

You don't use the mouse for the copy/cut and paste feature in SCFG.

And, of course, I notice the copy/cut/paste shortcuts down at the
bottom of the screen AFTER I ask about that. My apologies. The
functionality is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

I tried doing this, as I mentioned before. It seemed to work just fine in scfg, but when I restarted the BBS and entered that messge group the message bases were still in the original order. Anything I missed here, possibly?

If you used cuyt and paste to re-arrange the message bases in a message group, then you'll want the sort order for that message group to be set to "Index Position" in SCFG.

Weird. I figured that it was a massaging of the index pointers, so I had set it to index before... I guess I maybe had forgotten to restart the server after that point or something... I opened up everything and verified it was set as you said this time and then started the server again and it worked, so all is well I guess.
    Thank you.
