Hello folks,
Just getting going with Synchronet.
I hope I have got it setup right, so much has changed in 30 years :-P Closed my last BBS about 25 years ago and only recently rediscovered
the BBS scene was still alive while explaining to some friends how much fun we had back in the days when anything above 9600baud was fast. They did not understand as they are so used to having gigabit links at home
and 50+mbps in their pocket everywhere.
I'm guessing that the days of fussing with AREXX scripting is long
gone, or has someone resurrected it from the mists of time too?
All the best de Hairy Paul, an old (new) sysop in S.W.Scotland. :-P

Just wondering if You have any BBS nodes/hubs that have packet radio access gateways? - might dig out an old TNC and have a bash at setting up a packet node as an experiment in the future if it wont cause a problem :-)
I know some sysops have experimented with packet nodes using
Synchronet, but I think the results have always been somewhat disappointing. I don't know of any running right now. --
Here's a full quote. I don't see an origin line other than that you look fine.
At one time, because of Synchronet's DOSXTRN utility, I was
running the Amateur Radio Packet Door, originally done by the
late Dave Perry (W4KGU)(SK).
All of his doors did not have a fossil driver, but required
a DORINFO1.DEF file to run. But, awhile back, a deal with the
comports in Windows made the TNC think that the node was in
use, but it was not. So, I took that door offline. I still have
the MFJ 1270C TNC that I used with it, but no rig or connector
cable.
Other doors that he did were BULLET, where you could set up 26
categories for whatever topic you liked (ham radio or otherwise),

Thank You Brian, So many docs to read, things to twiddle and mistakes
to learn from..
Might take me a wee ehile but I will get there eventually.
Your feedback is appreciated Sir.

There is an old Tiny2 TNC lurking in one of those boxes of history in
the attic. I think it might need a MAX chip as I have a foggy memory of pinching it from the Tiny2 for another project way back..
Not delved into fussing with Doors yet, so many things to do, so few
hours in a day Hi Hi
Pretty sure Iam going to have a whole heap of fun with this BBS lark, always good to have something to firkle with when conditions are so sketchy on HF. -
