Greetings all! I have been running Wildcat fr many years, and decided to give Synchronet a try. So far, I love it! Very easy to setup and run.
A few questions though. If I register a domain name, how can I run it on a local machine.
I know I have to open a few ports to allow HTTP, etc. How
do I handle DNS?
Currently, I am able to log in from a separate computer
using the IP address 192.168.0.23 but I want to use a domain name and join a few nets as well.

Make your domain's A record point to your local machine's public IP address: https://wiki.synchro.net/faq:tcpip#public_ip

Your name provider (e.g. Godaddy or whatever) will allow you to configure the
IP address to point it at (the A record). If you have a dynamic (changing) IP
address, then you may need a name provider that supports a DynDNS protocol that
your gateway/router also supports or you can run software to auto update it.

192.168.x.x is a private IP address and not useful outside of your private network:

Is the password defined in the Synchronet system?

Greetings all! I have been running Wildcat fr many years, and decided to give Synchronet a try. So far, I love it! Very easy to setup and run.
I am able to connect to the new domain hobby-bbs.com now.
Here is my latest response from AREAFIX:
%+all
Even though I send my areafix from 954:895/35 to 954:895/1
it tries to callout to f1.n954.z954.example.com:24554 and fails with the error (no such
host is known)
I defined Linked Nodes as:
Address: 954/895/35
Binkp Settings as:
Host: hobbylinebbs.com
Port: 24554
Poll to Yes
Source Address: 954:895/1
and to Domains
I added the name: hobbynet and zone as 954
I am getting areafix responses, but no mail, even after using the %+all in the message
body.
I appreciate your help.
